Profile of The South India Spinners Association (SISPA)

The South India Spinners Association (SISPA), registered under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act on 6th September 1991, was established to provide effective representation and institutional support to the rapidly expanding spinning industry in Southern India, particularly to small and medium-scale mills promoted by first-generation technical entrepreneurs.

Commencing with an initial membership of 150 mills, SISPA has grown into a strong industry body representing around 500 small and medium-scale spinning mills across Tamil Nadu. A significant number of these mills are located in rural and backward regions of the State and contribute substantially to employment generation, providing direct and indirect livelihood opportunities to over five lakh people, with notable participation of women workforce.

Over the past 34 years, SISPA has evolved into a credible and respected industry platform, playing a pivotal role in bridging the interface between the spinning industry and various Government departments and statutory authorities.

The South India Textile Research Association (SITRA) is extending concessional testing services exclusively to SISPA members through its dedicated facility established at their premises.
